Mrs. Davis, Season 1: There’s so many ideas here that range from current events (AI) to all-time philosophical questions (Christianity’s effect on society) to the intimately personal (what do our parents owe us?). Packaged in the most absurd way possible. My score: seven falafels out of five stars

I Think You Should Leave, Season 3: in a world that’s becoming less and less comprehensible, this is the only show that makes sense

But have they tried just getting a giant fan to blow all this smoke out of here?

I had jury duty scheduled for today, but then was not required to report. I got an insane amount done today by just having zero meetings on my calendar! 10/10 can recommend

Bummed that Apple didn’t do the detailed release notes for each OS as they normally do. Digging through the small features was always one of my favorite parts of today

(unless that “And so much more.” for each release is all there actually is in each update!)

I’m really excited to learn more about the Journal app. In addition to staying private, I hope there’s an option to share externally. Would love to start writing in the Journal app and then post (as appropriate) to my blog or elsewhere.

I’m sure this thing is amazing, but $3500 is one more thing that Vision Pro has got to overcome. I truly don’t think any of these obstacles are fatal, but that price almost guarantees that it’s not going to get a fair shake until Apple Vision (no Pro) comes out

The biggest cringe of this whole Vision Pro introduction could have been avoided if they had just included a 3D camera on the iPhone 14 Pro.

I’m sure I’ll be more excited about the headset after the WWDC keynote, but right now I’m most excited about the rumored watchOS redesign. I hope something similar to the Siri watch face is still there: it’s not perfect (or even particularly great), but contextual information > static complications

Ted Lasso, Season 3: the show still hits all the beats you want, but with more seams showing. A strength has always been making these characters feel real. But this season (especially for Keeley), they sometimes felt like pieces on a chess board: positioning them for some move later on in the season

Updated because someone forgot to include the new season of “I Think You Should Leave”

  • With the new Zelda game being released, I’m surprised I’ve had time for anything else! But managed to keep with TV shows and even read a book! But that’s all over now. My life is nothing but Zelda now
  • I’ve been listening to Maggie Rogers latest album on near repeat for the past month. The first album was good, but this one is great

Finished in May:

Yellowjackets, Season 2: the show remains delightfully uneven and I’m beginning to think it’s on purpose

Succession, Season 4: there’s always another move to be made

Finished reading: Alexandra Petri’s US History: Important American Documents (I Made Up) by Alexandra Petri 📚I know she said this was made up, but if the truth of things are more in the feel of it rather than the think of it, this may be the most accurate historical record ever produced

The Mandalorian, season 3: I thought all season that the show just didn’t remember why everyone liked it in the first place. But then that last scene made me think that they remembered and just didn’t care

Watching the Cards/Royals game this afternoon. A shot of Arlington National Cemetery comes up and Vale asks “Is that where all the Cardinals are buried?”

Succession, Season 4: there’s always another move to be made

Another month with the solar panels making more energy than we used. It’s a bit unintuitive, but April/May tend to be the best months for net energy production

Paid for two new Mac apps this weekend (upgraded to Mars Edit 5 and lifetime unlock for Photomator for Mac) and couldn’t be more excited. More Mac apps! All the Mac apps!

This is such a blow to what was a good option for getting to Europe from the U.S. It’s what we used on our inbound from Italy!

But this is an even bigger blow to Chase Ultimate Rewards. It really only leaves Hyatt as the only unique good usage of UR points

Man, this brings me back to college and drinking a ton of Pepsi to get free iTunes downloads

(Last time they did this I figured out if you held the bottle just the right way, you could make out a sliver of text that told you whether or not the cap was a winner before you purchased)

Happy Zelda day to all who celebrate!

Non-ironically excited about my cross-country flight home today. Not sure when else I’d get five straight hours to play the new Zelda game
