Currently reading: Alexandra Petri’s US History: Important American Documents (I Made Up) by Alexandra Petri 📚
Not sure how I scored this, but Alexandra Petri’s new book is ready for me to pick up at the library!
Star Trek: Picard: in a show that exists purely for nostalgic reasons, it finally remembers what we were nostalgic for in the first place.
(I’ll probably have a bit more to say on this one later)
Beau is Afraid: it’s not only beau jordonwadlington.com
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever: what an emotional mess of a movie. It wasn’t great at a lot, but it deserves a lot of credit for fully considering the immeasurable loss of Chadwick Boseman jordonwadlington.com
The Super Mario Bros. Movie: Worth the price of admission for a couple of soulful Jack Black ballads jordonwadlington.com
Tetris: if you can suspend an L-shaped block’s worth of disbelief, there’s a lot of fun to be had here jordonwadlington.com

It’s that time of year when the solar panels produce more energy than we use! It’s always fun to see a negative electric bill!
(you can tell which days we had to charge the car)
Would love to see this. The convenience of DCA can’t be overstated
New coalition pushes for more long-distance flights at Reagan National
(For those that don’t know: DCA is restricted* to flights under 1250 miles– so basically Kansas– as a push to get more people to fly out of Dulles)
*As with all things concerning Congress, some congresspeople have successfully created carveouts to this rule, which is why I have a nonstop to Vegas from there in two weeks
I vastly prefer to work from home than go into the office, but it’s nice to change things up every now and then. Got a lunch meeting tomorrow, a day trip to Baltimore next week, and a week-long trip to California in two weeks.
Ugh, stopped my watch too early and recorded my run at 3.99 instead of 4.00 miles. Definitely not gonna be thinking about that .01 miles all day.

One of these days I’ll remember that it’s Mastodon with two Os instead of Mastadon with two As, but today is not that day

Ran across someone at work yesterday who has a last name that matches one of my text shortcuts and so all day she got text expanded to “Ms. ‘preciate ye!”

I like to use my Current Things page as a monthly snapshot of what I’m consuming and the thoughts I have about them. If my blog is the primary source document, Current Things is its combo first-look movie trailer and hand-curated card catalog.
I find that knowing I’m going to write a “hot take” of a book, movie, TV show season, etc. has made me engage more with what I’m consuming. I like that these reviews are my visceral reaction. If I end up having more or different thoughts, I’ll follow up with them.
Bumpy ride into STL, storms all day, and the Cards lost bad, but…I got to ride three trains, drink some ($14) beers, and watch some baseball so I’m gonna call the day a win
